DASK is mandatory for all residential dwellings within scope under Law No. 6305. A valid policy is required to start electricity, water and natural gas subscriptions, to complete title deed transactions and to obtain a mortgage. Properties without a policy are also excluded from post-earthquake state assistance.

DASK covers the structure itself: load-bearing systems, walls, foundations, roof, stairs, lifts and retaining walls. Contents, tenant belongings, loss of profit and debris removal are outside its scope. There is also an annually updated maximum coverage amount; if your building's real value exceeds it, the gap must be closed through the earthquake extension of a home insurance policy.

The premium is calculated from an official tariff based on earthquake risk zone, construction type (reinforced concrete, masonry, other), gross floor area and year of construction — it does not vary between insurers. What matters in DASK is therefore not comparison shopping but issuing the policy on time with accurate details.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is DASK compulsory?

Yes. It is legally required for all residential dwellings in scope, and proof is requested for utilities, title deeds and mortgages.

Does DASK cover my belongings?

No. DASK covers only the building. Contents require a home insurance policy.

What if the DASK limit is not enough?

Damage above the maximum amount is not paid. The earthquake extension of a home insurance policy closes that gap.

Does the DASK price differ between insurers?

No. The premium follows an official tariff and is identical everywhere. Only the property details change the price.
